Conclusion

For this project I and my fellow designer, Julie, worked on creating a new touch point for Nintendo to capitalize on. Starting on this project we did a brainstorming session to figure out what other companies are doing and what Nintendo isn’t doing. The biggest thing, and the thing that gave us our design goal, was customization. Xbox and even Playstation have customizable controllers covers and an assortment of things.

That's also why keyboards are so hot because you can make it personal to the user. We formulated what would be a customization for the switch itself designing it out that it would be one of a kind to the customer.

We started with doing user interviews on what they would like to see for a custom switch and what they like about customization to narrow down the interaction and user journey. We also looked at a competitive analysis to see competition and to showcase why the touchpoint could increase profits for Nintendo.

Afterwards we conducted a survey to find out what people think are the most popular games for customization options. Out of a total of 167 intakes we found that super smash bros, Pokemon, Mario, animal crossing, and legend of Zelda were the most popular games.

With this information we started designing out the looks for the Switch. We then designed out the web pages that would take the user through purchasing and customizing the Switch itself.

The final design fully realized with full interaction on customization and check out. We wanted the process to be fun and person like when a person customizes anything. It needs to be personal and exclusively theirs.
