Conclusion

In this project I wanted to create a new title screen from something in the past like it was getting a modern release. I really love the look, design, and experience of Chrono Trigger and felt like it deserved to be updated. This was the third motion project I created and would be the final one for my 3D Motion design class. I wanted it to be dynamic, flowing and flying through, leaving some mystery to what Chrono Trigger is, but gain the audience's attention when loading into the what would be updated game.

In the design process of this I started with creating a project brief looking at fonts, different styles, and how I wanted the animation to go and storyboard out ideas of how it would move.

I decided on colors and assets for the piece, creating most of the gears and finding more intricate ones online. I also designed the sword and learned how to make water graphics for the ending of the video. I wanted this to blend that classic music and feel of old chrono trigger while bringing it up to date. Luckily I found an artist named Bknapp that had a song that would fit perfectly for this.

I went into the project and wanted everything fluid and moving all at once to drive towards the final scene that would be the main menu of the updated game. I loved the idea of gears and time in this void of space floating around and mixing together to make the clock with the final scene showing Crono’s iconic sword at the end.

The project was received well by classmates and my teacher. My teacher praised it saying that it would be close to or getting near what industry standard for animation would be. I learned a lot from this and found my passion for design through this project.
