New Sports template look that allows users to change and cover sports news quickly
A completely new sports template was made for TEGNA Inc. to keep up to date with a more contemporary style. This was created through storyboarding and ensuring that all teams could be fully represented and output quickly. It uses a few different expressions to change colors or team logos quickly.
I took inspiration from multiple independent sports motion designers. Then looked at athletic brands on how they are promoting athletic wear. This helped me create a unique style that was conveyed through every major sport in the United States. I had to also think about the titles and colors of each team to make sure they don’t clash on screen which is where the use of white came in to help neutralize competing colors on screen. I also took into consideration how expressing would be used and adjusted it so that a user could quickly change team and city name allowing them to deploy a stinger transition or L3 in matter of minutes to go live.
